Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is a remedial hands-on manual therapy technique. The craniosacral system is composed of the bones of the head, the spine, and the pelvis and soft tissue. Craniosacral therapy attends to these areas in addition to the membranes that surround them and the cerebrospinal fluid that envelops the brain and spinal cord. During this treatment, our physical therapists use a very gentle touch—often so gentle that the client will not observe it, but will notice a sense of relaxation and well-being following the session.
The passage of spinal fluid within and around the central nervous system produces a vital body rhythm. A rich compound of electrolytes, proteins, amino acids, and other essential nutrients to the brain and central nervous system are carried in this fluid. Blockages are created when ligament or joint strains, traumatic injuries, or dysfunctions happen. These blockages then create health issues. Blockages prohibit the skull, its encasing membranes, the spine, and the spinal cord from expanding and contracting naturally which in turn results in disturbances to the movement of cerebrospinal fluid. Craniosacral therapy allows the reestablishment of the natural flow of spinal fluid.
