Depending on the underlying problem that’s causing the pain, different treatments are recommended for treating a neck or back condition. A primary source of neck and back pain can be a muscle spasm. A muscle spasm is sometimes a symptom of another condition such as a herniated disk, a ligament problem or even an alignment issue. The muscles that surround the spine can react to one of these conditions. The physical therapists at Back On Track will reduce the pain and reduce the chances of the pain coming back, by treating both the primary and secondary conditions.
For our clients with pinched nerves, alignment problems, pain in the neck, back, arms, or legs from herniated disks, and arthritic changes in the spine, Back On Track will provide cervical and lumbar traction. Mechanical traction is performed on a traction table. The vertebrae are gently spread to relieve pain from herniated disks and other causes of spinal nerve root irritation. Manual traction can also provide relief from pain in the arms, legs, and back that is caused by a herniated disk.
